At the Oconaluftee Pioneer Farmstead visitors can stroll through a collection
of Appalachian log farm buildings, getting a glimpse of what an early pioneer
farm was like. Every May through October the farmstead comes to life with living
history demonstrations. By such things as spinning wool, weaving cloth, forging
tools and making sorghum molasses, park personnel demonstrate how the early
pioneers might have lived. Even farm animals are allowed to roam freely within
the confines of the farmstead.
