If it seems that there are more travel-related web sites than travel destinations, you're not imagining things. According to Web research group PhoCusWright, there now are more than 10,000 sites devoted to travel. While nobody tries to use them all, planning a trip online often leads to exhaustive - and exhausting - searches, along with a glut of incomprehensible web page bookmarks collected along the way. The overall experience can be very frustrating and time-consuming.

BeenThereSawThat is a Detroit, Michigan-based Internet startup that aims to change all of this and make the Internet travel experience fun, or at least minimally painful, for those of us with limited patience for web surfing. Our web site offers would-be e-travelers an online "Travel Desktop" that provides one-click access to the most relevant travel sites on the Web. No more guessing how to spell "Travelocity" or trying to remember the URL for Southwest Airlines. It's all right on your desktop. If you're unsure how to use the Internet to plan or book your trip, you can even take a 5-minute e-travel for dummies tutorial. 

By reducing the number of choices and providing easy access to the travel sites people really need, our 'Travel Desktop' concept eliminates much of the frustration associated with online travel.  As our name implies, we've been there before, so you don't have to blaze your own trail through the maze of travel sites on the Web.

However, perhaps the most appealing part of the BeenThereSawThat web site is our expanding collection of postcard photography. We have assembled a coalition of leading independent postcard photographers and distributors across North America who are putting their world-class travel photography online for everyone to enjoy any time, anywhere. Our goal is to have the world's finest collection of online travel photography.. Soon, visitors to the PostCard Gallery will be able to take a virtual tour of travel destinations across North America, and the world - viewing the finest postcard photography available anywhere along with pre-researched travel information, maps, and web links. You can also send your favorite pictures to friends and family in customized ECards via email. 

Our collaboration with postcard distributors also enables us to leverage millions of picture postcards to promote our web site. With the BeenThereSawThat logo printed on the back, and a prominent message encouraging the buyer or recipient of the postcard to "View More Great Photography Online", we hope to attract thousands of travelers to our web site. Our goal is to see 100 million postcards carrying the BeenThereSawThat logo sold within the next two years.
