Mesa Verde National Park is the nation's only park dedicated to the preservation and display of the thousand year-old dwellings of the ancestral pueblos of the southwest.  Discovered in 1888 by a local rancher, the area contains hundreds of archeological sites.  This one is known as "Cliff Palace" and contains over 217 rooms, 23 ceremonial Kivas, and was home to 250 people.
